Biography Kathy Robertson grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on a small ranch in the Hoback area. Her love for horses, often led her to riding in the nearby mountains with her Mom and sisters. She married her high school sweetheart, Billy, and raised their three sons on the Robertson ranch that his family homesteaded. The area is affectionately called, “Hog Island” and includes the surrounding beauty of Munger Mountain. It has a rich history of several close-knit ranch families that homesteaded the region, raising horses, cows and pigs. Access across the Snake River was by a small swinging footbridge, or fording the river with a wagon. This created an isolated hearty community within Jackson Hole. Kathy seized any opportunity to work alongside her father-in-law, Dell, helping him with the livestock, while trying to absorb his amazing ability with horses. As their children grew, Kathy became the family photographer. Her interest in capturing the memories that told the story became a time-honored tradition in the Robertson clan. Their biggest joy was their annual pack trip. Starting out with only one packhorse, foam cooler, small pup tent and a two-year-old riding in front of Kathy, they headed for the hills. She fondly recalls knowing it was naptime when they become limp falling asleep by the gentle rocking of the horse. All of the Robertson boys journeyed into the Wyoming wilderness by the time they were two. From training toddlers on horseback to potty training in the woods, the adventures have continued throughout the years. The family’s collective love of the mountains was shared with friends and family as they included them whenever possible, making it an event all looked forward to. Kathy’s love for family, photography, the mountains, and their horses and mules, has never changed. She has developed a special way of capturing this lifestyle along with the relationships that have developed along the way. Through God’s blessing, the encouragement of family and friends, Kathy has expanded her photography into weddings and portraits. She has found she absolutely love it and feels blessed to share these special moments with her clients. Relationships tell a story. It could be the sideway glance of a groom, admiring his bride, the way a parent smiles with their eyes when they look at their child or the bond between a man and his horse. These are moments in time to be saved for future generations. Her ability to capture those candid special moments and relationships is obvious in her work and the “Treasures” that she seeks! |
